Reflection on my graduate classmates Blogs for the Authoring Tools Class

I have actually viewed each one of my classmate’s blogs (with the exception of Jason’s and Jeanette’s blogs, which I could not find) and I found that each one of them has a wealth of information. One of the things I noticed that we all have in common is that for some of us Blogging is something very new.

Some of us had a difficult time at the beginning learning how to open a blog account and we did not know how to use a blog. Like everything else, there is a learning curve for some of us. It’s like Mark Prensky’s says “we are Digital Immigrants” and I consider myself of them.

On the positive side, we all think that blogging is an important tool for educators and students as long as we stay focused and talk about a specific subject, not just ramble on. Additionally, most of us feel that as educators we need to set parameters regarding access, privacy and security issues because students frequently provide too much information about their personal life that might get in the hands of unscrupulous people.

We must also remember that this is a tool to post our ideas and thoughts and, like Brandon says, “Blogging is not a substitution for real life”.
